Van Acker Wedding // Netherlands

Wow. Where do I even start?!

YWAM…So forgive me if this is super messy. Two summers ago, I needed change… change from everything I was going through. I decided to study abroad for 6 months. I wanted to learn more about evangelism and photography. So I decided to pick the farthest country away from Canada. Australia it was… When I got there, I knew no one…. Yes, 22 year old me hopped on a plane, not knowing anyone in Australia, other than my school leader who I had Facetimed a few times. I got off the plane in Brisbane, no communication to anyone, other than three other Canadian girls. Those girls have been a HUGE blessing to me to this day as well. Finally we got a hold of someone to pick us up at the airport. Cue Tori and Jireh. They were by far the weirdest ahahah (sorry Tori 😂) anyways, so we got to the YWAM base. I remember getting a tour of the base and Thomas wanting to meet me cause of my last name…. ( Van Meppelen Scheppink) He was like in your face type of meeting. I wasn’t sure about anyone. I was jetlegged and just wanted to go home to familiarity.  Fast forward a few months. We found out our outreach locations. Thomas was on my team to the Philippines. Well while on outreach, we did not get along as well as we had hoped. You know the sibling kind of relationship… the one were you bicker and annoy the others, but at the end of the day if someone picks on the other person you stick up for your brother/sister. Anyways, a lot of people had been praying for our relationship. Then on the last day, we both apologized to each other and hugged. When Thomas asked me to be his wedding photographer, I cried. I couldn’t believe that he wanted me! Out of all the people he could have asked, he asked me. It meant the world to me to be able to fly across the world to shoot his wedding. Fast forward to his wedding day… again I cried. Listening to their vows… in Dutch… was one of the most beautiful things in the world! The amount of emotions during this day as unreal!!! I can’t wait to see how God uses them as a couple for the many things He has planned.

Enjoy looking through just a few photos from their wedding day.
